《去劇場.出發宣言》

Nobodies' Theatre Setting off Declaration

Nobodies theatre originated from a call for actor training: the "Actors. Body. Training. Together" movement. Since June 2019, along with the world's craze, "Actors. Body. Training. Together" provides a platform that focuses on body and collective training, allowing participants to redefine themselves as people/animals, individuals/groups, parents/children, predecessors/descendants, audiences/performers, and other different identities.

Going to the theater means believing that the performers are water, and the theater gives it different forms. Just as the river channel, seabed, sand, and dust make water become rivers, seas, waterfalls, and floating clouds... the theater is not just a building in the traditional sense, but a space that we walk through every moment, intentionally or unintentionally. Therefore, over the past year, through day-to-day training and practice, we shuttled through this place where we live, walked through different mountains and waters, ran through different cities and roads, went out to the park to perform, and returned to the rehearsal room in the building to practice... Through real steps, we sorted out the chaotic inner space and realized the empty belief into a theater that belongs to us.

Today, information is developed and society is full of various issues. Performers deal with these issues and try to respond to them through performances in theaters.
However, when exploring these issues, have we forgotten the essence of performance?

Going to the theater is a way of believing that performance is a human instinct and the basis of human learning and survival. Just as a child grows up, he must try to contact the outside world through feeling, expression, and imitation to find a way to survive. Performance itself is very meaningful. It is a primitive desire of human beings, a desire and need to connect with oneself, others, and the world.

From the call for training on May 14, 2019 to today, November 12, 2020, our theater has been traumatized, and we are overwhelmed by the huge emotional force that has followed. Will this power in our hearts kill us, or will it bring us back to life? Where is the power to define our own self-worth?

Today I went to the theater with my friends, and together we set out with our feet and sweat, visiting various performing arts institutions of all sizes.
A Declaration of Action:

Get rid of distracting thoughts, head toward the starting point, and flow like water through an ever-changing theater.

Invitation letter for Nobodies Theatre's Setting Off

Friends:

Over the years, through the exploration of performance and creation, I have met many of you. From a simple greeting to an invitation to training, prompting questions together, creating together, and even climbing the mountain and going into the water together...There are more and more actions and plans, and the backgrounds of the friends whom we have the chance to meet are getting more and more diverse. Thus, the idea of establishing nobodies’ theater began to take shape.

During this period, every encounter and acquaintance with you serves as the nourishment for nobodies’ theater. Therefore, I cordially invite you to attend nobodies’ theater’s founding celebration: "nobodies’ theater - Setting off Celebration".

The activity will be a walking tour, we will visit major art institutions in Hong Kong. We will announce our establishment, and greet friends in various art units, whether they are chairmen or cleaning ladies. We will visit the Hong Kong Arts Development Council in Quarry Bay, Hong Kong Arts Centre  and Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts in Wan Chai, Hong Kong City Hall and Tai Kwun in Central, K11 Musea, Hong Kong Cultural Centre, Xiqu Centre and West Kowloon Cultural District in Tsim Sha Tsui area. After visiting these performing arts areas, we will return to the base of "Actors. Body. Training. Together", Shek Kip Mei Park, and conclude the celebration with our regular training.

If you are interested in participating, please contact us directly!
