"Actors. Body. Training. Together" Movement

Introduction to the sport
The "Actors. Body. Training. Together" movement was born out of loneliness, fatigue and loss. Performers wander around in different art productions, sometimes extremely busy, sometimes too idle to be frustrating. When they are busy, they want space to settle down; when they are idle, they begin to question their own value. Performers seem to always be arranged by work opportunities and opportunities. Where should we go with these myths and feelings?
Starting in May 2019, the "Actors. Body. Training. Together" movement brought together a group of performers who all brought their own thoughts on life, performance, art, and society. In the name of training, they met irregularly. In the process, everyone developed from pursuing a rigorous training framework to a platform that emphasizes experience and exchange of thoughts. We took the opportunity of the establishment of the theater to review and organize different angles and compile four clues: training, research, planning, and space, for friends from all walks of life to understand.
There is inevitably a lonely part in creation, but perhaps we can understand each other's unique loneliness.

Turning point in training format
October 22, 2019 West Kowloon Cultural District Lawn
The social movement exhausted all participants physically and mentally, and everyone subconsciously broke away from the original routine and moved freely and silently on the lawn.
We found that it is important for everyone to be able to freely express their thoughts and feelings. Therefore, we decided to add an hour and a half of "togetherness" time to each training session, that is, everyone can choose the appropriate "action" according to their needs. This triggered the thinking about the relationship between the collective and the individual, and began to look for the "neutral framework" of collective training - collective training that can accommodate individual colors.

Since March, members’ imagination of training seems to have changed. Initially, the “routine” emphasized the improvement of skills, but later it emphasized sharing experiences, reflection, feelings, and exploration.

Freedom and the "Neutral Frame"
May 10, 2020 Shek Kip Mei Park
A "neutral framework" for group training has been established, and the exercises are composed of precise and simple rules. There are no success or failure criteria for the exercises, and participants are required to freely deal with the rules of the exercises, thereby discovering their own and their peers' habits.

Participant planning/self-determination
Due to different work schedules for everyone, it is difficult to arrange a unified training schedule.
Training changes the way you spend your time.
From agreeing on a time when everyone can attend, to setting a specific training routine.
Regardless of the number of people, as long as there is consensus among the participants present, the training will be successful.
(Twice a week, once on Sunday morning and once on Monday to Friday morning.)
There are no more administrative staff to manage the schedule in sports. Participants no longer just follow the arrangements, but need to be spontaneous and come up with the right time to practice.

Practical implementation and guidelines for new friends joining
Discusses the practical implementation and guidelines for opening a "window" for new people to join.
Executions are divided into private invitations and public invitations.
The only condition that everyone agrees on is that participants need to be willing to share and communicate sincerely (although these are all very subjective conditions).

This allows for effective external sharing, allowing friends who are interested in the "Actors•Body•Training•Training" movement to learn more, while also helping participants to sort out their next steps.

Actor Salon
January 12, 2020, Academy of Performing Arts outdoor area
Researcher Loui was away from home that day, so she participated in the discussion by phone. Everyone shared their work status and thoughts, and it felt like a detailed discussion that all participants urgently needed. We jokingly called this meeting an "actor salon" to help everyone sort out their worries.
Afterwards, everyone felt that the content of the face-to-face discussions was very valuable. In order to let participants who were unable to attend know the content of the discussions, we began to encourage participants to record their gains in writing and upload them to Google Drive for sharing.
